WASHINGTON: U.S. gun rights advocates have signed a White House petition calling for British CNN host Piers Morgan to be deported for allegedly attacking the Second Amendment rights of ordinary Americans.

Just two days after the petition calling for Morgan's deportation was posted, it had already garnered more than 28,500 signatures late Sunday, far and beyond the 25,000 required to get a response from the White House.

The outspoken former British tabloid editor has launched something of a personal crusade for greater gun control measures in the wake of the December 14 massacre at Sandy Hook elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.

On Tuesday, Morgan held an especially contentious interview with Gun Owners of America executive director Larry Pratt, appearing to become incensed and incredulous when Pratt suggested more, not fewer, weapons as the solution.

"You're an unbelievably stupid man, aren't you?" Morgan asked during the heated debate. "You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don't actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in America."

Following the interview, a Texas journalist posted a petition on the White House website alleging Morgan "is engaged in a hostile attack against the US Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment."

"We demand that Mr Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," it says.

Many Americans follow a literal interpretation of the Second Amendment, which enshrines the "right to bear arms" in the US Constitution.

Update Syria:

The US backed Supposedly freedom fighters are proving to be ruthless and tinged with bigotry ,racism and religious intolerance. They don't apologize for it . A large portion of these so-called "freedom fighters" are in fact from other nations and they are Sunni Muslims who hate Shia Muslims , Christians and any other religious faith or those having no faith. It appears rather similar to America's backing of the radical Mujahedin in Afghanistan in the war against the Soviet invaders and when they left there was little help was given to the country to rebuild which led to various groups vying for power and the Taliban the most extreme religious group took power and the rest is as they say history.

Yes there are even members of The Taliban and AlQaeda and the AlQaeda franchises fighting to take power in Syria all care of American and Western support. And America and the West just want to fulfill their own agendas from getting easy access to Syria's oil and gas and plenty of cheap labor thereby increasing the profits of US corporations and other nations in a feeding frenzy of rebuilding the nation or at least building massive US military bases and elimination of a so-called enemy and opening up the skies over Syria which was a no-fly zone to allow the US to fly bombers , fighter ,Jets , missiles and armed Drones in an attack on Iran easier & even without an attack on Iran the actions taken in Syria will go a long way to increasing American dominance in the region.

This of course furthers the aims of the American Empire which is addicted to expansion to flex its muscles while deluding itself that it is acting according to higher principles. But over and over the US government has shown since 9/11 under Bush and Obama to no longer adhere to those principles and the Rule Of Law which they hypocritically accuse others of doing and telling them to improve their human rights record. Still the USA outdoes most other nations for its use of torture, indefinite detention, ousting Habeas corpus , carrying out targeted assassinations, bombing populations without regard for the innocent , starting Wars of Aggression destabilizing sovereign nations through proxies while beating up and jailing thousands of protesters on America's streets and campuses .

No wonder it is easy to draw similarities to the Borg (Star Trek TNG) who are half human and half machine who can slaughter the innocent without remorse, regret, guilt or sadness. Like many in our society as we understand it "they don't want to think about that which they do not want to think about" as a lawyer friend of ours admitted. But taken too far then that's bizarre or in other words delusional. The positive thinking just becomes a form of wishful thinking or even magical thinking in which by thinking something and sharing it is no substitute for action. This type of thinking can lead to an inability to face real problems and therefore unable or unwilling to try to resolve them and not merely close your eyes and cover your ears .
Yes there is no harm in positive thinking but this should not rule out having normal human emotions -which is not weakness but just being human.

Gun Violence for instance in the USA is a problem the US government and all levels government and average American citizens need to face up to it and work on real solutions and not just make some sort of idiotic compromise with those against Gun Control.

And so the USA has now created a massive problem in Syria and American citizens have an obligation to rein in its government and openly criticize the Mainstream Media for just playing along with the Rich and powerful who feel nothing for those who are not one of their supposedly superior breed as if they had something in common with dogs and horses.

Jihadists take large part of Syria Alawite village: activists December 24, 2012

BEIRUT: Jihadists overran large parts of an Alawite village in the central Syrian province of Hama on Monday in fighting that killed at least 30 combatants, a monitoring group said.

Alongside other radical Islamist groups, Al-Nusra Front seized parts of the village of Maan, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, adding at least 11 rebel fighters and 20 regime troops were killed.

Rebels last week launched an all-out assault on army positions across Hama, home to a patchwork of religious communities, says the Observatory.

While anti-regime sentiment in the province is strong, regime forces had so far suppressed any major signs of insurgency in Hama, which links strategic provinces such as Damascus, Idlib in the northwest, and Homs in central Syria.

The provincial capital saw some of the largest protests against President Bashar al-Assad at the start of Syria's uprising more than 21 months ago, but the city was overrun by security and military forces in summer 2011.

Al-Nusra Front is listed by the United States as a "terrorist" organisation.

On Saturday, another Islamist battalion in Hama warned two Christian villages near Maan they would be attacked if they failed to evict pro-regime fighters.

Syria is steeped in a conflict that has killed more than 44,000 people, according to the Observatory, which relies on a vast network of activists and medics on the ground for its information.

As the conflict has escalated, groups have become radicalised and sectarianism has sharpened.

"Muslim group slams rebel threats against Syria Christians" via Dailystar.com,December 23, 2012

The world's largest Muslim body on Sunday condemned threats made by Islamist rebels in Syria against two Christian towns, warning of fresh confessional strife in the war-torn country.

Such threats "are contrary to the precepts of Islam which calls for tolerance, brotherhood and peace," said the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation based in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

It warned against the risks of "a slide into confessional" conflict.

Islamist rebels, in a video message posted on Saturday, warned Mharda and Sqilbiya in Syria's central province of Hama that they will be attacked if they do not evict regime forces.

One of seven men armed with Kalashnikovs warned residents to expel gangs of President Bashar al- "Assad and shabiha (pro-regime militia) from your towns and convince them not to bomb our villages and families," in the video.

"If not, we will immediately attack the hideouts of Assad's gangs and shabiha," added the man, who identified himself as Rashid Abul Fida, head of the Al-Ansar Brigade in Hama.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights director Rami Abdel Rahman said the towns both had pre-war populations in the tens of thousands but that most of their residents have fled.

Some 1.8 million Christians live in Syria.

Many have remained neutral in a conflict that erupted in March 2011 and has killed an estimated more than 44,000 people. Others, fearing a rise of Islamism, have taken Assad's side.
