MIAMI, April 1 (Reuters) - Thousands of protesters gathered in a downtown bayfront park on Sunday demanding the arrest of the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in central Florida a month ago.
Civil rights leaders were joined by Martin's parents who were making their first major public appearance in the family's home city since a news conference on the steps of the Baptist Church where the funeral for their son was held last month.
Sunday's protest came a day after one of the largest demonstrations yet in Sanford, the central Florida town where Martin was killed.

Rick Santorum is disturbed by the fact that Obama wants to ease any tension between the USA and Russia so he can reconfigure the nuclear defense shield in Europe to suit today's geopolitical realities. By doing so Obama seems to be hoping to reduce America's and Russia's nuclear stockpiles that is their WMDs. Such a move might reassure other nations that the US is not intent on World Domination.
Rick Santorum and other conservatives see this move as appeasement and capitulation to America's NO. 1 Enemy the Soviet Union. Ronald Reagan called the Soviets The Evil Empire ala Star Wars.
Given the religious beliefs of those supporting the GOP one wonders is what they fear is not so much war but rather denying the Religious Right their dreams or destiny of the Apocalypse which they believe to be part of God's /Jesus plan to wipe out the ungodly while saving the True Believers either some sort of physical victory or in the Rapture which proceeds the Last Days???
But why is it all these sanctimonious True Believing Christians love war ,death, destruction and ultimately misery for the rest of human kind. Just wondering.
