Seymour Hersh says the Obama administration is no better than the Bush Regime in telling the truth to the American people.
The Obama administration is addicted to the same narrative about Iran as being the repository of "EVIL" and ignore facts pointing to the opposite conclusion.
Meanwhile the media especially in the U.S. is also committed to promulgating the view that Iran is evil and is a danger to Israel and the rest of the world.
Hersh says America even under Obama wants payback for 9/11 so the wars continue.

'Iran got no nukes and US knows that'
 RussiaToday on Jun 11, 2011
Washington is ignoring its own intelligence because it is hell-bent on finding nuclear weapons that do not exist, Pulitzer-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh told RT.

Iran is promising transparency and constructive interaction with the UN's nuclear watchdog. A few days ago, the EU's foreign policy chief, Baroness Ashton, called on Tehran to give evidence of its peaceful atomic intentions. In an exclusive interview for RT, Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency insisted that Tehran has nothing to prove. http://youtu.be/7xZXMFNJlUc

The US and Western Media ignore Iran's hosting of nuclear disarmament conference.
The US and the West is now set for an attack on Iran and will not be deterred by any facts on the ground which undermine their views on Iran WMDs to get in the way of its bombing Iran.
Since 9/11 first the Bush Regime and then the Obama regime have spent more time demonizing Iran than engaging in a meaningful dialogue.
When the nuclear watch dog says there is no evidence of Iran trying to build nuclear weapons the US and the media just claim the Iranians are hiding what they are doing just as they said that Saddam was producing WMDs and nuclear weapons which was a lie.

But this shouldn't surprise anyone since a number of US politicians such as Hillary Clinton and John McCain and so on were talking about bombing Iran long before the 2008 election.
And now Obama has become a War Hawk and as we have seen treats anti-war critiques and activists as enemies of the state who are giving aid and comfort to America's enemies that is the "Terrorists" and countries such as Iran.

Part of the hypocrisy is that Iran has no nuclear weapons while Israel has over 150 nuclear weapons which it has never publicly acknowledged and the US refuses to pressure Israel to allow nuclear inspectors into its secret facilities so why should Iran or any other country.
So maybe the smoking gun will be a Mushroom Cloud from Bombs dropped on Iran by Israel .

In America it appears there are these two phony parties who have the same fiscal policies, the same foreign policies and both use notions such as National Security to limit the freedom and rights of American citizens while denying any rights to non-Americans.

" Top CIA Officer: Israel Will Probably Attack Iran in Sept." By Jerusalem POST.COM , via Information Clearing House, July 16, 2011

July 16, 2011 "JPost" -- Robert Baer tells LA KPFK radio that strike on Tehran likely to happen before vote on Palestinian state, that PM wants US to be involved.

Israel will probably attack Iran in September, a veteran CIA officer who spent 21 years in the Middle East, including in Lebanon and Syria, told a Los Angeles radio show on Tuesday.

While former CIA officer Rober Baer didn't reveal the sources behind his prediction, he referred to former Mossad chief Meir Dagan's warnings of an Israeli attack on Iran as "no bluff."

Baer told the KPFK Los Angeles show Background Briefing that previous comments made by Dagan that an Israeli attack on Iran could lead to a regional war, "tell us with near certainty that Netanyahu is planning an attack, and in as much as I can guess when it's going to be, it's probably going to be in September before a vote on the Palestinian state."

Baer added that Netanyahu is "also hoping to draw the United States into the conflict, and in fact there's a warning order inside the Pentagon to prepare for conflict with Iran."

The retired senior CIA officer predicted a scenario in which Israel would attack the Natanz nuclear facility as well as "a couple of others to degrade their capabilities."

"The Iranians will strike back were they can and that will be in Basra and in Baghdad," where the US has a diminished troop presence, Baer said, adding "we've started to look at Iran's targets in Iraq and across the border."

Baer, however, diffused predictions of regional war, saying, "What we're facing here is an escalation, not a planned all-out war."

So it appears there is nothing Iran can do to stop the US and the West or Israel from bombing their country. Once again this will be a pre-emptive war and as it is not based upon facts or reality it should be condemned as a war of Aggression.

One could play the cynic and just see this as a move by the Obama administration to ensure Obama's re-election playing the part of just another Macho American President who makes the hard decisions.

"Iran Takes up the Nuclear Cudgel" By Kaveh L Afrasiabi Via Information Clearing House ,July 16, 2011

"Iran regards utilizing nuclear weapons as forbidden in Islam and it is incumbent on everyone to safeguard humanity from such weapons." - Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

July 16, 2011 "Asia Times" -- The second international conference on nuclear disarmament hosted by Tehran gets barely a mention in the Western media, despite featuring delegates from 40 nations as well as representatives from both the United Nations and its nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"What we want to convey is a message to the entire world that Iran is trying its best for this argument for non-proliferation,'' Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told the audience in an opening address on Sunday. Forty years of non-proliferation conventions had produced no significant breakthrough in nuclear disarmament and the nuclear powers have not implemented their obligation under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), he said, adding that Iran believed that the use of atomic weapons should be legally banned, as chemical and biological weapons were through mandatory conventions, he said.

As Iran gears up to assume leadership of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) next year, such an initiative represents a step in the right direction, in light of the NAM countries' strong misgivings about nuclear double standards on the part of Western countries and the growing restrictions on the transfer of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, pursuant to articles of the NPT.

As expected, some Western pundits, such as David Frum, the man behind George W Bush's notorious "axis of evil" speech, cast a cynical gaze at the Tehran disarmament conference, describing it as a "theater of the absurd".

US and Israel pile on attacking activists challenging Israel's blockade of Gaza.
Anyone criticizing Israel is an enemy of Israel and is giving aid and comfort to so called terrorists ie the legitimate Hamas government in Gaza.
Elections allowed only if the USA and Israel can decide to outcome before hand.

Neocons Fume Over US Boat to Gaza | Truthout

Meanwhile US warns Palestine they will lose American foreign aid if they dare and have the " audacity " to go to the UN seeking recognition as a state.
Once again America appears to be more concerned about the policies of Israel than with negotiating for a peaceful settlement between Israel and Palestine.
We see this in the case of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and when Israel tear gassed, beat up and shot protesters on the borders of Israel.
America even supports the IDF when it beats unarmed people that is Palestinians or refuses to allow ambulances to cross checkpoints to take the sick for medical care and Israel is even permitted to wantonly destroy the homes , farms and olive groves of Palestinians in the occupied territories.
And the US and the Israeli government also support the fanatical settlers' movement which often terrorize the Palestinians living near them.

The settler's movement insists that Israel is for Jewish people only and that all Arabs, Palestinians and Muslims must be driven out of Israel.

And as discussed here before the Christian Zionists in America give their full support to such a policy. And Obama and Hillary Clinton have shown themselves as either unable or unwilling to put pressure on the Israeli government.

But then again the US and NATO forces have acted in barbaric ways in their treatment of citizens in Occupied Iraq and Afghanistan and the Tribal areas of Pakistan and their massive bombing campaign in Libya.

So it is bizarre and hypocritical whenever the US government or military talk about being pro-reform and pro-democracy.
Their message to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Uzbekistan , Kuwait,Yemen, Syria and other countries is that the people of these nations are not entitled to democracy or having their human rights and freedoms protected. That is if the oppressors are America's friends or allies then they have carte blanche in handling critiques, protesters, journalists, the media and dissidents and anyone associated with government critiques .

House Leaders to Palestine: Seek UN Recognition, Forget Foreign Aid By Josh Rogin via Information Clearing House

July 16, 2011 "Foreign Policy" -- The top Republican and Democrat foreign aid leaders in the House of Representatives are warning the Palestinian Authority (PA) that U.S. aid will be withheld if the Palestinians seek recognition of a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September.
"We write to reiterate our serious concerns about your intentions to pursue recognition of a Palestinian state at the United Nations," reads a July 11 letter sent to Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas by the leaders of the House Appropriations State and Foreign Operations subcommittee Kay Granger (R-TX) and Nita Lowey (D-NY), obtained by The Cable.

"It has been the longstanding belief of the United States government that the path to a true and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis will come only as a result of direct negotiations. We write to reaffirm that belief and warn of the severe consequences of abandoning it."

The Obama administration has been clear that it doesn't support the Palestinian plan to seek a vote on statehood at the United Nations in September, but it so far hasn't spelled out any consequences for the Palestinians if they should choose to do so. Congress, on the other hand, is doing a lot to make those consequences known. On July 7, the House passed a resolution opposing the statehood plan by a 407-6 vote. The Senate passed the same resolution unanimously.

In May, 29 senators promised to cut off all U.S. assistance to the PA if it formed a unity government with Hamas. The United States gave the PA about $550 million in aid in fiscal 2011, a mixture of project funding and direct cash to the government.

The head of the Palestine Liberation Organization mission in Washington, Maen Rashid Areikat, told The Cable in May that the plan to seek recognition at the United Nations was not final and could be scuttled if negotiations resume. He also said that the unity government would not change its policies regarding the peace process at least until Palestinian legislative and presidential elections, which are tentatively scheduled for May 2012.
